The Owenkillew and Glenelly are two medium sized (5-20m) rivers which have small wild brown trout (occasional bigger specimens) but which are better known for their salmon and sea trout fishing. The latter is best in June and July and while some fresh water helps a full blown spate is not required in these sections for sea trout. Grilse and salmon may be present from mid June on if there is sufficient water but often it is from August to October that the salmon fishing is at its best. These rivers are ideally suited to the fly fisherman but on some streches spinning and worming are also allowed. A ghillie or guide service can be arranged on some of this water given prior notice.
