
The Loughs Agency
is an agency of the Foyle, Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission (FCILC),
established under the 1998 Agreement between the Government of the United
Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of Ireland.
The FCILC is legislated for by the North/South Co operation
(Implementation Bodies) (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 and the British-Irish
Agreement Acts 1999 and 2002. The Board of the FCILC who, in exercising the
functions of the Body, are required to act in accordance with any directions
given by the North South Ministerial Council, to which it also reports.
The FCILC’s sponsoring Departments are the Department of Agriculture and
Rural Development in the North and the Department of Communications, Marine and
Natural Resources in the South.
